ABSTRACT
The farm tractors are the basic source of power on large scale farms that do require high capital cost. Impact of farm tractors on farming is enormous and their costs do positively impact agricultural business. The purpose of this study was to develop and determine the mathematical model to predict the economic life for the Belarus800 farm tractors operated in the Mapel and Rajaf East areas. It's specific objectives included the identification of the cost parameters pertinent to both ownership and variable cost, establishing the numerical values for them, determination of the economic life for the Belarus800 farm tractors, and modeling their economic life. The economic data of the cost of repair and maintenance (R&M), cost of fuel, cost of tractor operator, in addition to the yearly hours of operation, and the list or the buying price for the Belarus800 farm tractors were collected using questionnaires. Regression analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel (2010) on the cumulative values for the two parameters of the cumulative total cost per hour and the parameter of the age of operation. The polynomial model was determined to be the mathematical model that best fit for the prediction of the economic life for the Belarus800 farm tractors, and the economic life was determined to be 9 years of operation with cumulative operating hours of 3,412.64 h.
